History

1951

Compagnie Industrielle des Fibres (CIF), launched by several Belgian entrepreneurs, was established in Tangier in 1951. At that time, the company chose its location for its international dimension. The beginning of CIF is oriented towards foreign countries in jute trading.
The year 1951 was, therefore, the start of the long history of CIF, which gradually transformed itself into the company we know today, the leader in packaging solutions.

1970

Compagnie Industrielle des Fibres starts its synthetic materials processing activity and specializes in polypropylene.
With the technological evolutions represented by polypropylene, CIF became a pioneer in the creation of woven PP bags.

1997

As jute no longer met the needs of its customers, the production stopped. However, CIF continued to import and trade it. CIF then focused on diversification into the plastic materials we still know today.

2003

In order to pursue its diversification and be as close as possible to the technological evolutions, CIF develops the laminated polypropylene bag. The lamination layer allows CIF to offer bags of superior printing quality to its customers and to meet their marketing requirements.

2008

The year 2008 is again a major turning point for CIF.
In an effort to modernize its equipment and in response
to a growing demand, CIF left the city centre and moved
to the municipality of Hjar Nhal. It is located in the south of Tangier.
CIF builds a factory over 45 000 m².

2009

CIF is one of the 200 largest companies in Morocco
in terms of turnover. Focused on its local market
until 2009, CIF decides to start exporting
in order to pursue its strong growth.
The proximity of the port of Tangier Med,
less than 15 kilometres from the Spanish coast,
allows us to supply the countries of the Mediterranean
basin and West Africa with a very high level of reactivity.
For example, Spain, Portugal and France are delivered
in less than two days.

2013

CIF continues its investments and builds CIF 2, a new storage warehouse of more than 2 500 m².
As part of the expansion of its range of product, CIF introduces kraft paper bags on the market.

2014

Located on the edge of a protected natural reserve, CIF pays special attention to the environment in the operation and adopted a responsible approach to sustainable development very early on.
Faced with these economic and ecological challenges, CIF has for many years been committed to implementing a policy aimed at improving its energy efficiency. An extensive awareness program has already been established for its technical and management teams on the subject of energy saving to promote best practices in this area.

2015

CIF is opening a subsidiary in Dakar, Senegal, to serve its clients in West Africa.
CIF is certified ISO 9001

2016
